Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on the 9th of August, 1963 at Newark New Jersey. She is a child of the gospel music legend Cissy Houston(nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney Elizabeth Houston's cousin Dionne Warswick also sings. In Newark Whitney started singing with the church choir when she was a young child. When she was 15 years old, she began joining her mother backing vocals in Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978.
