Queen Latifah
Dana Elaine Owens, better called Queen Latifah in the United States is a rapper and actress. Queen Latifah's performance in music film and television has been recognized with the Golden Globe award two Screen Actors Guild Awards two Image Awards a Grammy Award Six additional Grammy nominations, an Emmy Award nomination and an Academy Award nomination. Queen Latifah's parents are Lancelot as well as Rita Owens. They were both members of the police force. Rita was a Newark New Jersey teacher, who worked at Irvington High School. Latifah's parents divorced when she aged 10 years old. Latifah, who was born and raised within Newark New Jersey attended Catholic schools in Newark. The stage name Latifah is a reference to delicate and gentle in Arabic was bestowed to her her aunt when she was only eight. Latifah is a very tall 5'10 girl who was on the high school basketball squad. in a school show, she performed the song Home from The Wiz. Latifah started beatboxing for the group known as Ladies Fresh. Latifah became part of in the Flavor Unit in its original form, which consisted of a team of MCs led by producer DJ Mark The 45 King. Mark James, aka DJ Mark the45 King, recorded Queen Latifah's rap Princess of the Posse. He sent the recording to Yo! MTV Raps Freddy. Dante Ross of Tommy Boy Music was a member of Latifah in the early days, was impressed by her track. In 1988, she dropped Wrath of My Madness as Latifah's first single.
